John F. Kennedy
On October 16, 1962 President John Kennedy was alerted about an immense crisis. Kennedy took action by calling in for a blockade around Cuba, but he was careful of calling it a "quarantine" because a blockade was considered an act of war. His goal was to prevent the Soviets from shipping anymore military supplies into Cuba. On October 22 President John Kennedy spoke about the crisis in a televised address/speech. Worried about the tensions between the U.S, and the Soviets, President Kennedy decided on a strategy of peace to make the situation much safer.
"For, in the final analysis, our most basic common link is that we all inhabit this small planet. We all breathe the same air. We all Cherish our children's future. And we are all mortal"
-John F. Kennedy
